Fantastic first book
My 2 yr old loves this book. the content is simple, great for toddlers! The illustrations are fun, I would recommend this to babies and toddlers. I wish we had discovered this on sooner.

A book your child will want to read over and over again!
My 2 1/2 year old daughter loves the predictability of this book. The illustrations are so colorful and delightful. She claps at the end when the boy's mother catches him. Lots of fun!

You'll Never Guess the End (A Charlotte Zolotow Book)
Published in Hardcover by Harpercollins Juvenile Books (October, 1992)
Author: Barbara Wersba
Average review score:

You Really Won't Guess the End!
I first read this book when I was probably about 11. Since then I have read it 3 more times, and I still love it! Now I am fifteen, the same age as Joel Greenburg, the protagonist of this book(yes, 15-year-olds use the word protagonist, at least if you come from my school and were in my 8th grade English class). No one pays much attention to Joel, ever since his older brother JJ's book was put on the New York Times Best Sellers list. When JJ's ex girlfriend Marilyn is kidnapped, JJ doesn't seem to care much, but Joel sets out with his faithful dog, Sherlock, determined to find her. A lot of funny things happen along the way, and I'd be willing to bet you'll be surprised at the conclusion. This is the type of book that you can read in one day with no desire to put it down and no regrets after.

The Kidnapping!
The main subject in the story is that a women went to play a game of cards and lost $50,000.00. And the dry-cleaning place she goes to burnt down in the back, and the owners need $50,000.00. So the women plans the to be kidnapped by the dry-cleaning owners and ask for a ransom of $100,000.00. This is a great book!

The Young Person's Dreambook: An Abuse Workbook
Published in Paperback by Island Nation Press (March, 2002)
Author: Charlotte Vale Allen
Average review score:

Just the best
This little workbook is something quite amazing. The author, who knows the fallout of abuse from a point of personal experience, has created a workbook that is a series of questions. But those questions are the most important ones for anyone who has ever suffered any form of abuse. It is a very special tool that can be used to help get people, of any age, talking about their experiences and, in the process, start feeling better about themselves. As far as I know, there is nothing else anywhere that remotely compares to this workbook, and it could only have been created by someone who's lived through it. If you have suffered abuse, or know of someone who has, get this workbook--for yourself or for them. It is something very unique and very special.

A fantastic tool!
This remarkable little workbook could only have been written by someone who had experienced abuse and understood not only the long-term effects but also what questions to ask in order to elicit truthful responses that will be of immense benefit to anyone (young or old) who has suffered from abuse of any kind. There is nothing else like it anywhere, and it is being used by more and more state and private agencies that deal with young people.

Accidents May Happen
Published in Paperback by Random House Childrens Pub (April, 1998)
Authors: Charlotte Foltz Jones and John O'Brien
Average review score:

Fifty amazing inventions with interesting explaination.
I read this book and I found some amazing things behind the inventions which are now fads. As the yo-yo is a really cool thing around it used to be a weapon and then it accidently turned into a toy for children. You may think that Nursery Rhymes are not very cool, but the cool part in Nursery Rhymes are stories of old history. For example, Ring Aroud The Rosey used to be a poem about a disease that killed people in the old times. The first line, "Ring Around The Rosey," used to be one of the symptoms of the disease which was a rosey rash on the person's body. "A pocket full of posies," was flowers that would supposedly keeep evil away for the human. The next line, "Ashes, Ashes," was "A-tishoo, a-tishoo," which they would need because they sneezed a ton. "We all fall down," was the last thing that happened to the people that got this, they would fall on to their bed and die. There is the thing behind,"Ring Around The Rosey." There are many other cool inventions in that story and all of them are great. I really liked the book.

Examines the lives of Victorian women
This new title examines the lives of Victorian women, from writers and poets to sculptors and social reformers - all of whom were celebrated in their day, but forgotten in modern times. From Charlotte Cushman to literary Jane Welsh Carlyle, Across an Untried Sea provides a fine survey of women.

The Adventures of Charlotte and Henry
Published in Hardcover by Viking Press (October, 1987)
Author: Bob Graham
Average review score:

Great book about friendship and gender reversal!
My daughters love this book about Charlotte--the capricious little girl who is "looked after" by her friend Henry. Bob Graham's illustrations of these characters celebrates childhood in it's very essence. Charlotte and Henry are very basic kids without prescribed gender roles imposed on them. It's unfortunate that this book and many other of Bob Graham's books are out of print!

After Charlotte's Mom Died
Published in School & Library Binding by Albert Whitman & Co (March, 1996)
Authors: Judith Friedman and Cornelia Maude Spelman
Average review score:

After Charlotte's Mom Died
After Charlotte's Mom Died is an excellent resource for a child that has lost a parent. The authors note at the start of the book is a short, concise note to adults that are supporting a child who has suffered the loss of a parent. The child in this story lost her mom in an auto accident. The story deals with many of the common feelings that a child will experience after such a loss... saddness, anger, fear. It also addresses the lonliness that a child will experience because other adults in their lives experiencing the same loss are preoccupied with their own grief. Many times are unable to see or deal with the feelings of the child. This book also addresses how a simple statement can be misconstrued by a child. In this instance an aunt tells the child that death is something like sleeping. The child is then afraid to go to sleep. The father seeks counselling for himself and the child to help them deal with their grief. In our society many times there is a fear of counselling. This book protrays counselling in a positive way, a way to work through the feelings. This book is an excellent resource for families, schools etc. We are adding this to our Hospice library as a resource for our community.
